Privacy Policy
What RankedAus learns about you, what it is used for and what you can ask of us. The short answer is very little; the long answer follows.
What this site is
RankedAus (rankedaus.com) is a small Australian website offering a dozen board games, puzzles and word games that run inside your browser, eight of them playable today. There are no accounts, no profiles and no sign-in, and the whole site can be used without telling us who you are.
Who operates this site
The operator of RankedAus (rankedaus.com) is MME SURFACE FINISHING, whose address is PO Box 7016, Hawthorn North VIC 3122, Australia (principal place of business: 6 Curie Ct, Seaford VIC 3198). Any personal information described on this page is handled by MME SURFACE FINISHING in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. The address for anything privacy-related is info@rankedaus.com.
Information we collect
Nothing on the site asks you for personal details, and no form exists that could take them in. What our web server does, like nearly all of them, is note a few technical facts about each request it answers:
- The IP address that sent the request
- The browser and operating system, as reported by your browser
- The page that was requested and the time of the request
- The referring page, when your browser sends one
These records are used to keep the site running and to see which pages people open. They are not used to build a profile of you and are not sold or passed on; they are kept only as long as those purposes need and are then deleted or stripped of anything that could identify you.
Cookies and browser storage
The site sets no cookies of its own. The games save an unfinished board, your chosen level and your best results in your browser’s local storage so you can pick up later, and the cookie notice records in the same place that you have seen it. Nothing in local storage is sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Meta Pixel and advertising measurement
Pages on this site load the Meta Pixel, a short script supplied by Meta Platforms. When a page opens, the pixel passes Meta your IP address, basic browser and device details, the address of the page and the time, together with any Meta cookies already in your browser, in particular _fbp and _fbc. We use it for one purpose: to measure our advertising on Meta services, that is, to learn which of our advertisements bring people to RankedAus and how those advertisements perform. Meta may match this information to a Meta account under its own data policy, and because Meta processes data outside Australia, this is a disclosure to an overseas recipient under Australian Privacy Principle 8. The pixel runs on the basis of the consent you give through the cookie notice. You can withdraw that consent at any time by blocking or deleting cookies for rankedaus.com in your browser settings, and you can limit how Meta uses the information through the ad preferences in your Meta account; our cookie policy explains both steps.
Links to other websites
The games live on this site. Where a page links somewhere else, including Meta’s own pages, the site you land on has its own privacy policy and its own cookies, and neither is within our control.
Email you send us
Writing to info@rankedaus.com gives us your address and whatever you put in the message. We keep both for as long as it takes to deal with the matter and for a reasonable time afterwards, then delete them. Your address is never added to a mailing list or shared with anyone.
Children
The games here are the kind found in a classroom or on a kitchen table. The site is not aimed at young children, and since it collects no personal information, we do not knowingly hold data about anyone under eighteen.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) you may ask what personal information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected. As there are no accounts, such a request would in practice concern a server log or an email exchange. Write to info@rankedaus.com; we aim to respond within thirty days. If you believe we have handled your information in a way that breaches the Australian Privacy Principles, tell us first so we can look into it. If our response does not satisfy you, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and the software behind it is kept up to date. No system is perfect, but a site that stores no personal information leaves very little to take.
Changes to this policy
When something about how the site works is altered, this page is rewritten to match. The wording you see here now is the wording that currently applies.
